To whom it may concern,
As a UK-based writer wanting to do research in
rural China for 15 days during May 2002, I was very lucky to come across Richard Liu on an internet web site. I
thought immediately that his combination of personal commitment, skill in
English and native Chinese would be perfect for my needs - and I was not
disappointed.
During two weeks of almost non-stop work his
interpreting skills were invaluable - I can truly say that I would not have been
able to do it without him. He was
flexible enough to put up with hardships varying from riding a bicycle across
the Tibetan Plateau to crossing deserts in Inner Mongolia, and he was even happy
to make arrangements with contacts on my behalf - often involving many
complicated phone calls. He put up
with my constantly-changing plans without a murmur of complaint, and as well as
that was incredibly supportive.
In conclusion, I cannot recommend him highly
enough, and I invite anyone who is considering making use of his skills to
